Responsible
materials

Our jewellery is governed by a set of values that influence our day-to-day activity.

In seeking solutions to offer more ethical and sustainable jewellery, we are committed to our own home-based production and a careful selection of the materials, the result of a constant process of revision and self-improvement.

Metals

We are committed to RJC recycled gold and ethical goal certified by Fairmined.

RECYCLED GOLD JEWELRY

Our recycled gold is certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council, an organisation that brings together the major companies from the jewellery sector and which establishes international standards of sustainability for the industry. This certification guarantees that we are giving new life to gold that has already been worked, and that the metal comes from conflict-free zones.

FAIRMINED CERTIFIED GOLD

Aware that the mining of gold will not stop, we support initiatives that promote the transformation of the sector towards more sustainable models. This is why, since 2014, we are consumers and distributors of Fairmined certificated gold.

This certification, created by the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), by means of external audits and strict supervision, guarantees that the gold supplied by small-scale artisan mines is extracted using methods that respect the environment and produce a positive impact on the life of the mining communities.

Gems

TRACEABLE DIAMONDS

Historically, the extraction of diamonds has had a serious impact on the environment. The enormous geopolitical complexity surrounding the extraction of diamonds means that today it is still not possible to know their origin 100%, or provide real traceability from the mine to the end client.

Majoral chooses to create a limited number of items with diamonds, in order to maintain good control and to comply with the ethical and quality standards that we set ourselves. In this way, we offer an alternative for all our clients who wish to make an aware purchase.

CERTIFIED DIAMONDS

Since 2018 Majoral has been committed to including certified diamonds with the creation of the Ethical Diamond Symbol collection, our line of diamonds of more than 0.25 carats.

These diamonds come from conflict-free zones, guaranteeing extraction that respects the environment and human rights. Each diamond has been analysed in the laboratories of GIA (Gemmological Institute of America), one of the maximum authorities in diamond certification.

Each diamond includes a certificate of quality and has an individual code engraved on the girdle – visible with a microscope – that specifies its unique and specific qualities.

NATURAL-COLOURED SAPPHIRES

We understand gems as an expression of the beauty of our planet and we incorporate them in our jewellery, ensuring that everyone who has taken part in its chain of value is fairly rewarded for their work.

Our sapphire supplier, Wennick Lefèvre, enables us to offer natural, untreated sapphires that come from Madagascar and Sri Lanka. Thanks to the direct contact with the mines and the gem-cutting workshops, Wennick-Lefèvre can guarantee that their sapphires come from small-scale artisan mining, respectful of the environment, and whose work directly benefits the local population.

Own and home-based production

Remaining loyal to the way of we have always done things, all our jewellery is made and designed in our workshops in Barcelona and Formentera. We also collaborate with a network of trusted artisan workshops located in the province of Barcelona, which help us produce the stocks for our shops, following the strict requisites of control and quality of our responsible jewellery.

We accept that jewellery evolves due to technological innovations. For this reason, we use a combination of artisan techniques, the fruit of our own experience and inheritance of ancestral wisdom, and we incorporate new processes such as laser cutting and 3D modelling.

In this way, we can ensure the compliance of our standards of quality and offer a better service to our clients, adapting to their needs.
